变简单句，即把从句变为短语就可。通常，可转换的成分有主语、表语、宾语、定语和状语。
一、 宾语从句和短语等的转换
1. 有些宾语从句可以转换为动词不定式短语、疑问词加不定式形式或不定式短语的复合宾语。例如
,
①We decided that we would help him.
We decided to help him.
②I hate it when people are so selfish.
I hate people to be so selfish
③He is wondering where to find his lost car .
He is wondering where he can find his lost car.
④Jim found that it was difficult to learn Chinese well. →
Jim found it difficult to learn Chinese well.
2．有些宾语从句可以转换为动名词短语、或介词加动名词短语。例如，
①He admitted that he had broken the window.
He admitted having broken the window.
②She insisted that he should go with us.
She insisted on going with us.
3. 有些宾语从句可以转换为名词短语
The poor girl doesn""t know when and where she was born. →
The poor girl doesn""t know the time and the place of her birth.
They demanded that their salary be raised.
They demanded a rise in their salary.
二、 主语从句和短语的转换
1. 有些主语从句可以转换为动名词短语或名词短语.例如,
It worried his parents that he should mix with such people.
His mixing with such people worried his parents.
Parents"" love of children is perfect and minute.
It""s perfect and minute that parents love children.
2。主语从句和不定式短语或不定式的复合结构的转换。例如,
It was clear that he had taken the money.
It was clear for him to have taken the money.

三、 表语从句和短语的转换
1． 表语从句与不定式的转换。例如，
His wish was to become a cashier.
His wish was that he would become a cashier.
The problem was how to find the right hotel quickly.
The problem was how we could find the right hotel quickly .
2． 表语从句也可以转换成动名词词短语或名词性短语。
①.His chief worry was that he lacked experience.
His chief worry was his lacking in experience.
②.Our practical problem was that we lacked courage.

四、 状语从句和短语的转化
状语从句与分词状语之间的转换是有一定条件的, 那就是状语从句中的从句主语必须与主句的主语相同,
前后指同样的人或事物。反之, 就不能转换。其次, 状语从句的种类很多, 但并不是所有的状语从句都可
以转换为分词状语, 可以转换的多数为时间状语从句、原因状语从句和条件状语从句。
1．状语从句与分词状语比较及转换。
①. After Tom checked out in the hotel, he took a taxi for the airport.
Having checked out in the hotel, Tom took a taxi for the airport.
②. As the teacher is very busy, he will not be able to answer the question immediately.
③Being very busy, the teacher will not be able to answer the question immediately.
④ Weather permitting, we shall go on an outing on Sunday.

2. 状语从句可以转换为介词短语或不定式短语。
① Because she made a mistake, several people died.
Because of her mistake, several people died.
②.He was foolish enough to tell them everything.

五、 定语从句和短语的转换
1． 定语从句可以转换成分词短语。例如，
The students who study here are mostly from peasant families.
The students studying here are mostly from peasant families.
This is a book which was written by a farmer.
This is a book written by a farmer.
2． 定语从句也可以转换为介词短语或形容词短语。例如，
The girl who is wearing red coat is my sister .
The girl in a red coat is my sister.
Full of youthful vigor, he was diligent and modest.
He , who was full of youthful vigor, was diligent and modest.
3.定语从句还可以转换为不定式短语或不定式得复合结构。例如，
I have no book to read . I have no book that I can read
