　　Duncan: I said “human” interaction. This is what happens when people have a you-know-what occur in their lives. They wake up one day and they say, “I’m gonna quit my job and try something completely different with my life.” But then they wake up another day, and they say to themselves, “Thank God my older brother didn’t let me blow Dad’s inheritance[遗产] by buying a broken-down zoo in the country, nine miles from the nearest Target注1 store!”
　　Benjamin: But maybe my older brother didn’t see this place. Look, this is...this is simple destiny. The place makes 75% of its revenue[收入] in the summertime. If I can get an inspection[检查] set for the end of June, right? I’ll be open by July. It’s only February right now. It’s a lot of work, but I think I can do it. Duncan, you should have seen Rosie.
　　Duncan: Look, do...I’m begging you, do what other people do. Go to Vegas. Lose a little bit of money. Or do what I did, when Sheila left me.
　　Benjamin: Start handicapping[（赛马）搞让步赛] horses?
　　Duncan: Well, now, that was a little misguided[愚蠢的]…
　　Benjamin: Go into the commercial[商业的] shrimping business and call myself Captain Dunk. Start cliff diving in Acapulco at the age of 38.

　　Duncan: All right, forget that. Forget all that. Don’t do what I did. Travel the stages of grief[悲伤]. Yet, stop just before zebras[斑马] get involved.
　　Benjamin: It’s only two zebras. And a lion, and a jaguar[美洲豹], and 47 other species, seven of which are endangered. And all of them are saved the second we make this deal. The kids are gonna be so psyched[（俚）使激动的].
　　Duncan: Really? Psyched? Are they really gonna be psyched?

I’ve been an adventure addict my whole life, with no big regard for cost, with...well, with no regard for cost. Basically, I was just an observer and a writer. But this is my first real adventure. And I just want to say that it’s been the best one of all because it’s personal. And thanks to my Katherine, the money came through.
　　So…I don’t know what you’ve heard, but I am able to say, though I don’t have a lot, I do have enough to get us by. And if you stick with me, I will give this everything, but I will need everything from you and we are going to reopen this zoo. It is the best job in the world, and it’s gonna take everything to make it work. So don’t...don’t give up on our adventure. (The crowd cheers.)

　　Kelly: (laughs) We need a new store.
　　Benjamin: And seriously, I’m avoiding half the aisles[走道]. Condiments[调味品]. Pastries[糕点], forget about it. She loved red kites and blueberry Pop-Tarts[（方形的）果酱馅饼]. I mean, who doesn’t, right?
　　Kelly: Who doesn’t?
　　Benjamin: If only I could talk to her about getting over her. And most of all, it’s the kids. They’re the biggest triggers of all. I mean, Dylan, his eyes…you know, I’ve only seen that expression in somebody’s eyes once in my life. And the way he just drives me nuts[发狂的], he makes me crazy. Denies me, frustrates[挫败] me. And all the time, he’s looking back at me with her eyes, and none of her lightness. What I’ve figured out is that when you love somebody that much, that hard, that long, you can never get away from them, no matter where you go. And that only comes once in a lifetime. Just can’t get a handle on it. I cannot let go.
　　[Inside the house.]
　　Dylan: I get it now, okay? I get why you can’t stand me!
　　Benjamin: Okay…all right…
　　Dylan: No! At least now I know the real reason why you hate me! Look, I heard you admit it to her! Like you were talking about cornflakes[玉米片]! You hate me!
　　Benjamin: I hate you? Wait a second. Okay, we’ve had some problems, man, but we’re figuring it out, okay?
　　Dylan: Oh, that is bullshit[胡扯]! Admit it! You wish I wasn’t here! With that expression in my eyes? I heard you!
　　Benjamin: Hold on! Enough with the drama, alright? Knock it off[别闹]! You misheard me!
　　Dylan: I can’t stand it here! Look, can’t you see that?
　　Benjamin: No! But thank you for telling me, again! I keep forgetting it’s all about you! Why don’t I just pack us up? We’ll just…we’ll just go on the road together!
　　We could be hobos[无业游民，流浪者]!
　　Dylan: Because you wasted all our money! Some of that belonged to me, Dad!
　　Benjamin: I didn’t waste our money. I thought you liked it here. And I’m sorry, I thought your friends would come out and visit you, man. I…I called them all myself and I invited ’em. And I’m sorry, I thought you and Lily were friends. I thought, I thought, I thought...I thought this was...I mean, I thought you liked me! I thought this was a dream come true for us!
　　Dylan: It’s your dream! You can’t force a dream onto someone else, Dad!
　　Benjamin: Yes, I can!! I can force a dream on you!!

　　迪伦：我现在明白了，好吧？我知道你为什么受不了我了！
　　本杰明：好吧……行……
　　迪伦：不，至少现在我知道你讨厌我的真正原因是什么了！瞧，我听到你向她承认了！就像在谈论玉米片似的！你讨厌我！本杰明：我讨厌你？等一等，好吧，我们之间确实有问题，但我们会解决的，好吗？
　　迪伦：喔，真是一派胡扯！承认吧！你宁愿我不在这里！我的那种眼神？我都听到了！本杰明：等一下！别小题大做了，行不？别闹了！你听错了！
　　迪伦：我受够这里了！你看不出来吗？
　　本杰明：不！但谢谢你再一次提醒我！我老是忘记全世界都围着你转！我们为什么不打包上路呢？我们……我们这就去流浪街头吧！一起当流浪汉吧！
　　迪伦：那是因为你把我们的钱都浪费了！那些钱我也有一份儿的，爸爸！
　　本杰明：我没有浪费钱。我以为你喜欢这里。我很抱歉，我以为你的朋友会过来看你。我……我亲自给他们打了电话，邀请他们过来。我很抱歉，我以为你和莉莉是朋友。我以为，我以为，我以为……我以为这一切……我是说，我以为你喜欢我！我以为这是我们梦想成真的地方！
　　迪伦：这是你的梦想！你不能把自己的梦想强加到别人头上，爸爸！
　　本杰明：不，我可以！！我可以把梦想强加给你！！
　　Dylan: Why are you yelling?!
　　Benjamin: Because it’s a good dream!! And it’s got cool animals in it and some pretty great people, too!! And because I’m your father, and I’m the only one you’ve got, and the line of people in this world who really care about you ends here! So stop moping around[忧郁地闲荡] this place, man! And pick up a shovel[铲子] and dig a hole! Do something! You just sit here and feel sorry for yourself, man! Help me with your sister! Help me, damn it!!
　　Dylan: Help me, damn it!! Help me!!
　　Benjamin:…I’m sorry that your mother got sick when she did, believe me. I’m sorry that you didn’t get more of a childhood, man. That’s just how that one went. But we live with a seven-year-old girl who still believes in the Easter Bunny. What are we gonna do?
　　Dylan: You never ask me how I’m doing. You never even taught me how to shave[剃（须）].
　　Benjamin: What, you want to know how to shave?(Dylan slams his door.) I would…I would love to teach you how to shave! Let’s shave!
　　Rosie: (opens her door) What about the Easter Bunny?
　　迪伦：你为什么要吼？！

　　迪伦：你从不问我过得怎样。你甚至没教过我怎么刮胡子。
　　本杰明：什么，你想学刮胡子？（迪伦摔上门。）我……我很乐意教你啊！我们来刮胡子吧！
　　萝茜：（开门）复活节兔子怎么了？

　　Benjamin: I like it when you talk. You know, sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, just literally 20 seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.
　　Dylan: I never know what to say to you.
　　Benjamin: I’m the same way. Why don’t we just tell each other what we wish the other guy would say?
　　Dylan: “I’m sorry I brought you out to the

　　Benjamin: “You’re a great dad.” (Both laugh.)
　　Dylan: (looking at Spar) You did your best, Dad. He knows that.

　　迪伦：我一直不知道该跟你说些什么。
