2018年10月25日，重慶市人民政府外事办公室正式挂牌，副市长刘桂平出席挂牌活动并揭牌。
《重庆市机构改革方案》明确，在市政府外事侨务办公室外事工作职责基础上，组建市政府外事办公室，作为市政府组成部门，保留市政府港澳事务办公室牌子，不再保留市政府外事侨务办公室。
On October 25， the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People"s Government officially unveiled its nameplate， and Vice Mayor Liu Guiping attended the inauguration event and unveiled the plate.
The "Chongqing Municipal Institutional Reform Plan" clarifies that on the basis of the duties of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People"s Government， the Foreign Affairs Office of the Municipal Government is established as a municipal government body. While retaining the nameplate of the Municipal Government"s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office， the new office would no longer incorporate the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office.
