The world of colors and light中有着这样的句子: Unfortunately, although van Gogh committed his whole being to painting, he received little reward for his effort.(P35) 柯林斯英语词典对reward作名词时的解释是:something that is given in return for good or evil done or received or that is offered or given for some service or attainment,中文意思为“回报,报酬,奖励”。
例如:The mayor has offered a reward of ¥ 5,000 to (anyone) who can capture the tiger alive or dead.
Work gets done (more easily) when people do it together, and the rewards are higher too.
The boss rewarded her with a cash bonus for her great efforts.
His movie won several awards at the film festival, (which) was beyond his wildest dream.
The fireman received a reward for saving the child’s life.
He won first prize in the writing competition.
或者award sth. to sb.。
      2. rewarding
Planning ahead can make your experience less difficult and more rewarding.
      *ADMIT*
The world of colors and light中有着这样的句子:In 1983, he gained admission to the Beijing School of Art.(P43)(1983年,他被北京艺术学院录取。)
      例如:He admitted his mistake.
She admits being strict with her children.
He admitted having read my private letter.
There were no windows to admit air to the room.
No one but ticket-holders was admitted into the theater.
Information has been put forward (that) more middle school graduates will be admitted into universities.
The matter admits of no delay.
The regulations admit of no exception.
      1. Four Chinese models were among the 14 people __________ prizes on Friday at the World Supermodel Competition.

      C. rewarding D. awarding
      2. By serving others, a person focuses on someone other than himself or herself, which can be very eye-opening and ____ ______.
